 | This Week... Ladies and gentlemen, you'd better take a seat. And if your seat comes equipped with straps (we won't ask why) then strap in. The news this week could cause dizziness and light-headed glee; we're worried that you could swoon from sheer excitement and do yourself an injury. This week began with the Oscars but it finished even more strongly. Yesterday brought the April issue of Empire, and its Iron Man 3 cover is looking pretty spiffing if we do say so ourselves (the contents aren't too shabby either). Jude Law, who dropped by Thursday for a webchat, agreed: "Wow, even Robert looks good on it." As if a visit from John Watson and a new issue weren't enough to make the week, this morning saw the announcement of the nominations for this year's 18th Jameson Empire Awards, a shortlist voted for by you and one that you're going to have to choose from again to appoint the winners. Hollywood's finest are waiting for YOUR decision, so don't let them down. Helen O'Hara Deputy Online Editor, Empire | | |

 | | | | | Seth MacFarlane: Oscar Hero Or Lame Duck? "From Whoopi all the way down to Ron Jeremy, it's an honour that everyone else said no," grinned a visibly nervy Seth MacFarlane at Oscars zero hour. A few minutes later you could sense people backstage fumbling for Jeremy's number, hoping that the man could free himself from whatever torrid triste he was engaged in at the time to save the day as the Family Guy guy dropped clunker after clunker on the Oscars. | | | |

| | | The Empire Podcast #50 In a week where his '70s-influenced thriller hits cinemas, the one and only Mark Wahlberg comes to the Empire Podcast studio to talk Broken City, Ted 2 and what to expect from his role in Transformers 4. Elsewhere, a whole heap of movies are reviewed - including Broken City itself, Stoker and Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters - and the director of Song For Marion, Paul Andrew Williams, gets quizzed about Terence Stamp's fitness regime. |
| | | Mia Wasikowska And Matthew Goode Talk Stoker Five Empire stars worth of stylised Southern gothic, Stoker is a more than welcome return for Korean master Park Chan-wook. Chan-wook, or 'Director Park' as his cast respectfully refer to him, has constructed a meticulous, creepy and nearly impossible to define movie that should shake cinemagoers from their winter slumbers - and then some. Still, being contrary types, we went along to ask two of its leads - Matthew Goode and Mia Wasikowska - to define it. We also asked them whether they're scared of spiders, what it's like to be directed via interpreter and what their favourite thing to stoke is. Well, we asked them two of those things anyway. |
| | | Richard Gere Talks Arbitrage It's been a quiet few years for Richard Tiffany Gere. But now he's come blazing back with his strongest role in some time, as billionaire conniver Robert Miller in Arbitrage. We met up with him in a London hotel to talk about the sleek fiscal thriller, but couldn't resist also asking him how the hell he ended up in Movie 43, and whether those old Die Hard rumours are really true. |
| | | Behind The Scenes On Cloud Atlas A landmark in ambition and scope, Cloud Atlas is basically six movies for the price of one. Like Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain or that bit in The Tree Of Life with all the dinosaurs and the lava, directors Lana and Andy Wachowski and Tom Tykwer have set out to distil the very essence of existence itself for our cinematic pleasure. It charts the journey of different human souls across oceans and through time, but disentangling its inner 'true true' could take scholars many decades. Luckily, we've been able to augment our handy Cloud A-Z with a peek behind the curtain and asked two of its stars, James D'Arcy and Jim Sturgess, to tell is what it was like to make. |
| | | Robert Zemeckis And Denzel Washington Talk Flight The star (Denzel Washington) and director (Robert Zemeckis) of Flight were gracious enough to spend a good 45 minutes with us in the Podcast studio recently, with the resulting interview covering everything from Nelson Mandela's house to the joys of flip phones. Until now, it's only been available as an mp3, but thanks to this handy transcription you can enjoy it both via your ears and via your eyes... |

 | | | | | The Science Of Frankenweenie collectable book. To be honest, inside it's more about the film (out on Monday) than science. We tried re-animating our dog based on these instructions and it didn't work and now we're sorry we killed the office pooch. | | | |

 | | | | | Stoker An intense mix of horror, thriller and domestic drama, this is exquisite filmmaking. | | | | Also Out | | | This week's video trailers and clips. Every week, our video player will update to show trailers and clips from the week's movie releases listed above. | | |

 | | | | | Killing Them Softly A good, efficient crime thriller, let down by clunky social commentary but lifted by excellent performances, including perhaps Brad Pitt's recent best. | | | | Also Out | | |
