The truth is in here! This week, Empire has been casting our minds back to one of the best sci-fi / thriller / horror / whatever shows of all time, The X-Files . Our intrepid duo of maverick FBI agents, Nick de Semlyen and James White, have tracked down and spoken to the heroes, villains and creators of the phenomenon, to bring you the secrets of The X-Files. Chris Carter, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are joined by the Lone Gunmen, the Bounty Hunter, Krycek and more, so get spooky and check it out. Also this week we talked to Enough Said director Nicole Holofcener, mashed up Tom Hanks posters to mark the release of Captain Phillips (check our podcast for an interview with Paul Greengrass and more on that) and much more.

The Grand Budapest Hotel Trailer Is Here
Welcome to the most Wes Anderson film ever. The Grand Budapest Hotel trailer is here, and the only way it could be more comprehensively inclusive of the director's style is if there were a stop-motion fox in the mix somewhere. Let's check off the trademarks: we have hyper-saturated colour, characters standing dead centre of the frame, gorgeous stylised environments, blandly outrageous statements, great humour, odd hairstyles and a sense of borderline farce. Oh, and Bill Murray. Where do we sign up?

I think they should cast De Semlyen. Nick's very Christian Grey-like.

    Empire's X-Files Celebration
Nine years, 202 episodes, a host of indelible characters, about six thousand packets of Morleys and some deeply sinister goings-on, The X-Files is a show worth celebrating - and celebrate it is what we've done. And then some. We put tape on the windows of Empire HQ and waited for its leading lights to emerge from the shadows. Chris Carter... Walter Skinner... Smoking Man... Mulder and Scully... Krycek... they all joined us for our X-travanganza. The truth is out there? Pah. It's right here.

    The Empire Podcast 83
Three directors drop by the Empire Podcast booth this week, one for Captain Phillips (Paul Greengrass), another for Prince Avalanche (David Gordon Green) and the last for The Curse Of Chucky (Don Mancini). Elsewhere, the team use the words "Tactical Chunder" when talking about Pacific Rim 2, and somehow our Enough Said review involves Stan Lee hiding under someone's bed. Then there's a discussion of physical reactions to films, what we've got to look forward to in 2014 and whether or not it was a good idea for Charlie Hunnam to drop out of 50 Shades Of Grey.

    Tony Gilroy Screenwriting Podcast Special
Tony Gilroy is an Oscar-nominated screenwriter, the pen wielder behind the Bourne movies and his own directorial work, such as Michael Clayton (which got him his Oscar nod), Duplicity and, most recently, Bourne Legacy. In town for a special BFI screenwriters' speech, we asked Gilroy to drop round the Empire Podcast booth afterwards to talk about how he battles writers' block and brings his ideas to the big screen. Look forward to details on the future of the Bourne franchise, his take on the current state of play in Hollywood, and why movies like Michael Clayton wouldn't get made today.

    The 10 Best Hellblazer Stories
John Constantine: ex-lunatic, ex-punk, black magician, detective, smoker, trenchcoat wearer, bastard. Tearing through 300 issues of Vertigo's Hellblazer (and beyond into the milder new Constantine series), it's just been announced that he's also being developed as the hero for a potential NBC TV series, the pilot of which is currently being written by David S. Goyer. With that in mind, we cast our minds back over his DC history, and mused which of Constantine's best stories might be ripe for adaptation. It's likely that very little of what lies beneath will actually find its way to the screen, but it's fun to dream...

    Nicole Holofcener: Film By Film
She's been compared with Woody Allen and described as a purveyor of upmarket chick flicks, often in exactly the same breath. It's safe to say that Nicole Holofcener has managed to shrug off attempts to pigeonhole her during her 20-odd year career as a film and TV director, and continued to make her unique brand of funny, contemporary dramas. Empire went along to find out what's made her tick down the years.

    Tom Hanks Movie Poster Mashups
He's endlessly popular and - as demonstrated rather handily in this week's Captain Phillips - pretty gifted in the acting department as well. That being the case, we set you, our esteemed readers, the challenge of mashing posters on the theme of Tom Hanks, and as ever you blew us away. Check out the very best submissions here...

    Empire Classic Scene #2: Network
Penned by the great Paddy Chayefsky, directed by the also-great Sidney Lumet and delivered by the also-also-great Peter Finch, Network's "mad as hell" speech is still a high-water mark in big screen meltdowns. And, like Finch's TV anchorman Howard Beale's temper, the water is boiling. We've gone back to Empire's second ever Classic Scene for this furious 1976 gem.

    Tom Hanks: A Viewer's Guide
If life is like a box of chocolates, Tom Hanks' life is one of those really expensive ones handcrafted by Belgians with PhDs in cocoa in a lab made entirely of praline. He is, quite simply, the biggest movie star of all time, with the box office ($8.5m and counting) and Oscars (two, plus three nominations) to prove it. He's regularly been tagged 'cinema's Average Joe', a Norman Rockwell portrait of American's best face, but like his predecessor in that niche, Jimmy Stewart, there's an awful lot more to him that that. Beyond his acting, he's a veteran producer, two-time director, screenwriter, environmentalist, part-time rapper and the man who taught us that "There is no crying in baseball!". Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks...

90 Facts You Didn't Know About Disney
Walt Disney Studios was founded in the summer of 1923, which means that the company is now 90 years old. To mark the occasion, we've assembled some trivia about Walt himself, Disney's theme parks and films for your consideration. Read on and see how many are new to you...

XBox One: Third Time's The Charm?
Sega Saturn. Nintendo 64. PlayStation 3: all third-generation home consoles from manufacturers once riding high, all met with varying levels of criticism and a lack of consumer confidence. While the Saturn bombed, the N64 trundled along with its stalwart franchises, and the PS3 eventually corrected course, all proved to be wake up calls to companies caught up in their own hubris.

Would You Trade Your House For A Film?
How much do you want to make a movie? Empire has met people who have maxed out credit cards, drained life savings and remortgaged in order to fund their film dream, but never before someone who has actually sold their house so they can tell a screen story.

The Jameson Empire Done In 60 Seconds Ironman Challenge!
Given 2014 will be Empire's 25th anniversary year we felt it was appropriate to pick a movie from the year of our inception 1989 (so not Inception then). We thought about Batman, we pondered Indy 3, we almost went for Bill And Ted's Great Adventure before realising it was made on the budget of a DISS movie anyway. Then it hit us, the perfect choice. Something we have all experienced, albeit likely in slightly less posh surroundings - school. You've got it: start channeling your best Peter Weir, gen-up on your Walt Whitmans, dust down your sixth form blazers, put a call through to your old alma mater for your location shoot, and track down your perfect Knox Overstreet, it is time to seize the day! Oh captain, my captain, this year's Done In Sixty Seconds 'IRONMAN' Challenge movie is DEAD POETS SOCIETY.
