The 50 Best Films Of 2013
It's December, and as is traditional, we've asked Empire's writers to vote for their favourite films of the year. The assembled results have since been turned into this, a list of the very best 2013 had to offer. All films released from January 1 to December 31 in the UK were eligible, and we've included (but not ranked) three movies that several of our number have seen, but not enough to vote on fairly. So read on and at the end, check how many you've seen yourself...

    The Empire Podcast #90
The Boy Who Lived, Daniel Radcliffe, is The Boy Who Talked About American Football On The Empire Podcast this week, while Alexander Payne doesn't mention sport of any kind, instead sticking to his latest, Nebraska.

The 15 Breakout Stars Of 2013
Every year brings some faces to freshen the Hollywood gene pool, talents that make an extra impact or people we've seen before in other capacities showing a knack for something different. We round up our favourite new arrivals and surprises for 2013...

    Unlikely Film Trends Of 2013
People often notice the obvious stuff - the fact that there are a lot of comic-book movies these days, or the way animated films seem to be proliferating. But have you noticed the slightly weirder trends in filmmaking this year? Here are the ones we noticed - and beware some spoilers!

The 22 Best Movie-Related Viral Videos Of 2013
This year has been another belter in the movie-related viral video department. Our Facebook, Twitter, Google + and Tumblr pages have been positively heaving with so many clever clips, spoofs and skits over the course of 2013 that the very best have spilled over into this special list feature. This means that even if you missed these at the time, you can still laugh your proverbial socks off watching them right here, right now - and then recommend them to your less web-savvy friends as if you'd seen them all before anyway...

    The 20 Best Set-Pieces Of 2013
Some films are less than the sum of their parts. Some disappointing films can have great moments. And many of the best films have one stand-out scene that leaves you cheering in your seats. Here are the ones that stuck in our memory this year...

    Nelson Mandela: His Movie Legacy
Former South African president and icon of freedom and forgiveness Nelson Mandela has died at the age of 95. While his world only occasionally intersected with that of the cinema, he left a lasting impression, and his fascinating, eventful life is one that filmmakers have attempted to chronicle more than once...

Empire Meets Forest Whitaker & Angela Bassett
Oscar-winning actor and recent Empire podcaster Forest Whitaker is back on the promotion trail with Black Nativity, a Christmassy tale of families and faith. We sat down with him and his co-star Angela Bassett, along with Jennifer Hudson, Mary J Blige and Tyrese Gibson to talk turkey.

Homefront Interviews: Jason Statham, James Franco And More Explain The Film
Homefront sees Jason Statham's undercover cop, Phil Broker, escape to the country to start a new life with his daughter. The only problem is that he soon falls foul of the local crime bosses, led by James Franco and Kate Bosworth, after a children's fight, and things kick off. Well, with a script written by Sylvester Stallone you didn't expect him to take up needlepoint, did you? We spoke to Statham, director Gary Fleder, Franco and Bosworth to get the lowdown.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Teaser Trailer Breakdown
There's a lot of new information in the latest Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer. So much new information, in fact, that a trailer breakdown was in order, and here it is in its gloriously over-analytical glory, touching on hidden messages in Oscorp's snooping screens and those octopus-like metal arm attachments you were wondering about...

    Frozen: The Character Guide
The animating geniuses at Disney have taken winter to heart this year with their all singing, all shivering new animation Frozen. Produced by Pixar mastermind John Lasseter and co-directed by Chris Buck (Tarzan, Surf's Up) and Jennifer Lee (screenwriter on Wreck-It Ralph), the film is a Nordic-set tale of friendship, family and fear. Featuring pet reindeer, deconstructable snowmen and a real ice queen, Frozen has plenty to offer. Empire sat down with the film's creators to get a first hand account of the thinking behind the film's protagonists...

The Secret Of Walter Mitty Screening Offer
It's been five years since Ben Stiller directed Tropic Thunder, and the film that lured him back to the director's chair is a sweet tale of a mild-mannered man who dreams of being much, much more. Quietly fascinated by colleague Cheryl (Kristen Wiig), he finally gets the chance to live some of those daydreams when he sets off in search of a missing negative by a star photographer. Icelandic indie band Of Monsters And Men have Titanic as their tour-bus movie.

Richard Armitage accidentally stole quite a lot of socks from the set of The Hobbit.
