Console Wars
When we posted our list of the 50 Greatest Video Game Characters last week, we had no idea the can of Lemmings (the Worms didn’t make the list) we were opening. From every corner of the Internet, rabid gamers began a righteous crusade of hate-filled fury, denouncing the list for everything from incorrect placement of Solid Snake, ignoring the cast of Mortal Kombat (Sub Zero? Really? Are you serious?) and daring to include characters they’d never even heard of! The comments board has been filled to bursting with such well-reasoned arguments as “WHAT da FU** HAPPENED TO EZIO AUDITORE!!!! AND ARBITER AND LUIGI AND WHY ISNT VAULT TEC BOY CLOSER TO NUMBER ONE???!?” Yes, the debate has been fierce and the backlash tumultuous but we apologise for none of it! If you don’t know Minsc from The Nameless One, or wonder why the entire cast of Tekken didn’t make up the top ten then… well, we despair. But whatever your gaming fetish, take a look at the list and join in the fracas.

How to Get People to Switch to Blu-Ray
According to a press release out today, even the record-breaking sales of Avatar haven't lifted Blu-ray out of the doldrums. Screen Digest reports that, "A combination of a slower-than-expected fall in retail prices and the impact of the worst economic recession in living memory ensured that – unlike in the US – sales of Blu-ray hardware failed to live up to expectations in the key international markets in 2009. Furthermore, those homes that did acquire a BD player or PS3 by the end of the year bought fewer Blu-ray Discs (BDs) than anticipated – less than 1.5 titles per household on average. For many people, it seems, DVD remains ‘good enough’ for most titles and the additional cost of opting for a hi-def BD version simply cannot be justified in the current climate of austerity.

4.3.2.1. Movie Mastermind
Forget the social drama of Kidulthood: Noel Clarke's latest is a thriller with 'tude. It's also got four up-and-coming female actresses with plenty of brass who, in the film, find themselves embroiled in a conflict diamond heist in London and New York. But recently, at the movie's London junket, they found themselves mixed up in something much more sinister: Empire's fiendish quiz on the two cities...

Chris Rock On Death At A Funeral
Chris Rock, one of America's funniest men and a producer on his new film, Death at a Funeral, came over to London recently to talk about the movie. We stopped by to ask him about the current 3D craze, the challenges of having a cast full of directors, and whether he's on Twitter...

The 50 Greatest Video Game Characters
Never has an Empire list proved more controversial than this week’s assemblage of the best characters in video games. The battle lines have been drawn, Nintendo fanboys have squared off against PlayStation officionados while Xbox diehards take potshots from the sidelines, meanwhile poor old Empire has been caught in the middle!

The Cast Of The Losers Talks Action!
They're quite possibly the best-looking Special Forces team ever assembled, but The Losers don't let chiselled features get between them and revenge after they're betrayed and left for dead. Based on the comic books, the new movie stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba, Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans, Columbus Short and Spain's Oscar Jaenada - and we talked to the whole lot recently to get the skinny on the story behind the film, and why all roads lead to beer...

Local Kids Done Good
Who says kids today don’t know they’re born? A bunch of enterprising year eight youngsters from Bricknell Primary School in Hull and a second group from Titus Salt School in Bradford have been shortlisted for the Seattle International Film Festival, where their animated shorts will be entered into competition.
