 | This Week... Weather-wise... well, it's only a matter of time before tauntauns roam our frosty land and the odd wampa emerges from under our beds. But our spirits remain unbroken - and we hope yours do, too. Why? Well, first up Harmony 'Kids' Korine delivered a blast of Florida sunshine this week in the shape of the raucous Spring Breakers. And if the tauntauns do come, our second podcast guest of the week, Rufus "twat on a horse" Sewell (his words, not ours), could probably saddle them up and ride them off into the sunset. Then the new Great Gatsby trailer landed and the bobbins spring weather was forgotten. All in all, a cockle-warming week. Now, if you'll excuse us, we're going outside to hallucinate about Ben Kenobi. Phil de Semlyen Staff Writer, Empire | | |

 | | | | | Empire's Sneak-Peek Iron Man 3 Footage Reaction If you read my cover feature on Iron Man 3, then you'll know that back in January I was lucky enough to see approximately 15 minutes of footage from Shane Black's Avengers-following threequel in LA. There's a brief rundown of the footage in our Iron Man 3 cover feature (and if you haven't read it, be sure to check it out on iPad, where it's still on sale), but I was largely shying away from revealing major details, conscious of the spoiler brigade. | | | |

 | | | | | Exclusive Portfolio: The Enterprise Crew In the magazine event of the year, the May issue of Empire takes an in-depth, 75-page look at the world of J.J. Abrams. Here in an exclusive preview we bring you the full portfolio of the creative geniuses involved in Star Trek Into Darkness. | |
| | | The Empire Podcast #55 Rufus Sewell refers to himself as "that twat on a horse" in his interview on this week's Empire Podcast, whereas Harmony Korine does no such thing, instead talking about James Franco phallating a gun in honour of his latest, Spring Breakers. Elsewhere, a very important discussion is blown wide open: which film director has the best voice? Also, we say goodbye to the one and only Roger Ebert... |
| | | Empire's John Boorman Podcast Special John Boorman is the legendary British film director behind Point Blank, Deliverance, Zardoz, Excalibur, The Emerald Forest, Hope And Glory, The General, The Tailor Of Panama and many more. As he has been recently awarded a BFI fellowship - which is currently showing a selection of his films in a special John Boorman season - we asked him into the podcast studio for an in-depth interview, and here, ladies and gentlemen, is the fascinating result. |
| | | The Most Gratuitously Sexual Movie Posters Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers breaks out this week. No doubt you'll have already been distracted by the posters, which feature more female teenage flesh than any other poster in movie history. All those nubile young bodies in the service of selling a film may seem ever-so-slightly gratuitous, but they're not without precedent. Here we cast an eye over some of the most unnecessary exploitation of people's rude bits ever to have "graced" a movie poster. And yes, Kelly Brook's bum is in there. |
| | | 7 Amazing Illustrated TV Posters Pencils. Ink. Paper. Underappreciated in movie poster-making these days, but making a comeback - see this Wolverine one-sheet for details - it's often up to TV to pick up the slack. With the new Mad Men poster setting eyebrows to cocked all over the web of late, here are seven examples of how the smaller screen is showing up movie poster makers with the same equipment available to your seven-year-old nephew... |
| | | Meat & Fish Movie Poster Mashups What goes well with mash? Meat and fish. Oh, and green beans, but we haven't done a mash-up about them - we've done a movie poster mash-up about meat and fish, so expect horse jokes aplenty and, of course, 'The Codfather'. |
| | | The Ultimate White House Picture Quiz With Olympus Has Fallen out next week and White House Down in cinemas come September, it's hard not to think about other films that have featured the big ol' White House. Perhaps unsurpisingly, four score and seven million movies have seen 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in the spotlight, and after whittling them down to just 21 we've compiled this really rather Presidential picture quiz. So guess the film, write its name in the box beneath the respective picture and find out of you're worth the POTUS' seal of approval. |
