 | Well Hung The election may be over and Parliament may be hung, but while we're waiting for them to be drawn and quartered as well, you can take refuge from the endless punditry and speculation in your local cinema. After all, this week your local cinema has more controversy (Four Lions), more terror (well, as much terror anyway, in Nightmare on Elm Street) and more demented wrangling (Hot Tub Time Machine). So our advice is just go watch some films until it's all over - or, failing that, check out your inspired Election Movie Poster Mash-ups and remember, it's all just a government. What could go wrong? | | | | | Justified: Fire In The Hole One of the many pleasure of frontier series Deadwood – besides creator David Milch's poetic blend of Shakespearian-toned patter and expletive-laden outbursts – was Timothy Olyphant's performance as the clenched, conflicted Seth Bullock. As the frustrated law keeper of a chaotic, evolving chunk of the Old West, Olyphant brought a particular charm to the man. Read more. | | | |

 | | | | | Four Lions Video Interviews Chris Morris' brilliant, controversy-baiting comedy Four Lions – which follows the adventures of a group of hapless wannabe suicide bombers - opens this week, and we strongly recommend it, for it's bold, brave and gut-bustingly funny. We sent Chris Hewitt along to the film's UK premiere at the Bradford Film Festival recently, where he spoke to Morris, producer Mark Herbert, writers Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain, and most of the Four Lions themselves. | | |
| | | Who The F*** Is Chris Morris? You probably haven't heard of him - and you almost certainly wouldn't spot him in a crowd. But Chris Morris is a name you owe it to yourself to know. The comedy world's most sadistic satirist has made his first full-length film in suicide bomber comedy Four Lions. Here, we slam the wasps from the pure apple of truth as we summarise the highlights from Morris' career to date for the benefit of those poor fools who have never experienced his scathing, spot-on wit... |
| | | Movie Poster Mashup: Election Special! With political fever taking over the news and every water-cooler conversation around, take a rather more entertaining look at Britain's current political conundrums with our selection of movie mash-ups. We asked you guys to riff on the political parties as election fever mounted, and you've delivered in spades. Who doesn't love seeing David Cameron in the guise of, er, Tina Fey, after all? |
| | | You Can't Laugh At That! Cinema's Bravest Comedies Sure, it's important to laugh - but it's also important not to make light of tragedy, right? Well, maybe not. Four Lions, out this week, mines comedy from the exploits of a group of hapless suicide bombers, but it's hardly the first time that the movies have taken the untouchable and waved a rubber chicken in its face. Here are the wrongest comedies, based on the least funny subjects, in Hollywood history. |
| | | The Scariest Dream Sequences In Movie History This week, Freddy Krueger returns in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake with a slightly different face (Jackie Earle Haley's in the make-up), but with his usual bag of scary nightmare tricks all present and correct. We decided to take a look at some other cinematic dreams and rate their scare-ability... |
| | | Brief History Of Video Game Movies With Prince of Persia fast approaching on the horizon, it looks like cinematic video game adaptations are moving to a whole new level (the sand one). It's no secret that video games and the silver screen haven't exactly been the best of bedfellows over the years, so we thought we'd take a look back over the ill-conceived projects that set out to put pixels on screen and examine how the genre has evolved - even if the results are generally akin to a mistimed jump over a spiked pit. |
