 | Sold Out! Apologies to all those who, despite an all-out assault on the BFI's booking lines, were unable to bag tickets to attend Empire's Movie-Con this year. I won't lie to you, it was utter carnage and lives were nearly lost as each and every ticket was snapped up in the first hour after going on sale. If you were left disappointed then all is not entirely lost, however. While we don't have any seats left for the Con itself, there will be separate tickets available for the special screenings on Saturday and Sunday night so keep an eye on the site for information as to when these will be available. In other news, our very own Sam Toy went to LA last week and spent some time with Gore Verbinski to try and get his head around marvellously mental animation, Rango. You can read all about his impressions here. James Dyer Online Editor, Empire | | |

 | | | | | Rango: A Walk-Through With Gore Verbinski This time last month, Rango was a project we, like most almost everyone else, had only the most rudimentary knowledge of: an animated film being directed by Gore Verbinski, with Johnny Depp providing key vocal talent. Then, a few weeks back, the teaser trailer landed. Which was, to be honest, unhelpful. You know the one: that shot of a desert road, with a wind up fish (out of water, and in mid-air) slowly making its way from one side of frame to the other, which didn't really elicit much more of a response from anyone, beyond "Okaaaaaay." | | | | | 50 Movie Twitterers You Should Follow Now that everyone has calmed down about Twitter and (largely) accepted it as an interesting part of the internet rather than some trendy media buzzword, we figured it was time to take a look at some of Hollywood's finest who are making good use of the site to connect with fans, friends and the world at large. So here is a rundown on some of the celebrity tweeters you just might want to follow, be it for laughs, news or complete insanity... | | |
| | | Video: The Twilight Crew Talk Twilight, Surprisingly Okay, okay, Kristen and Robert and Taylor weren't in town, but that doesn't mean we weren't up for saying hello to the other guys in Forks, Washington. Watch as we talk giant pillows, trombones, and 'wolfification' with the likes of director David Slade, vampires Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene, and Xavier Samuel, as well as werewolves Alex Meraz and, um, Booboo Stewart. Top bloke, that Booboo. |
| | | 12 Things You Need To Know About The New Spider-Man While he may be a slightly little older pick than we were expecting for the back-to-school Spidey, Andrew Garfield has on his side talent, charm, tousled hair and a face fresher than the dew on a mountainside. In Narnia. And it's as well, because as Tobey Maguire's successor for Marc Webb's Spider-Man 4, he'll guide Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's webby wonder through high school angst and the painful loss of his uncle. But who is he? Here's a handy route-map to Garfield aficionado-dom. |
| | | Name The Movie Heist Have you heard? Inception is coming. It'll invade your brainbox and give you a refurbishment quote on the architecture of your mind. It's a brain bender. A mind melter. It's also a heist movie of sorts, and in celebration of all things heisty we've got together snaps from the very best (and some of the worst) for you to play... Name that heist movie! Go, go, go! |
| | | The A To Z Of Twilight Twilight, as we all know, is a runaway hit (read: frightening obsession) with adolescent humans of the female persuasion. But the hormonally-charged masses aren't the only demographic to go ga-ga for Team Edward/Jacob. In fact there are more than a couple of people here at Empire Towers (some of them male) who have not only watched every film to date but read all the books as well. If you're one of those who's curious what all the fuss is about but not quite ready to fly the flag by reading the first novel on the tube then look no further: Here is your complete A to Z of all things Twilight. Go Team Jacob! ... ahem. |
| | | Guess The Movie Mullet Too long the unlovely runt of the haircut litter, the mullet has become a byword for the movie maverick - men with curls on their neck and mayhem in their hearts. If this haircut could talk it would say, "Stand clear people, anything could happen." To celebrate the latest in the coiff cascade - '80s-homaging action star MacGruber - here are a few of the characters who brought hockey hair to Hollywood. All you, the eagle-eyed reader, have to do is match the mullet with the movie... |

 | | | | | Predators A solidly okay Saturday night effort, but unambitious considering the talent involved. | | | | | The Lovely Bones Like The Lord Of The Rings, The Lovely Bones does a fantastic job with revered, complex source material. As terrific on terra firma as it is audacious in its astral plane, it is doubtful we'll see a more imaginative, courageous film in 2010. | | | | Also Out | | |
