 | Idle Hands... And All That Busy is a word you could use to describe this week. Carnage would be another. We had the three-day extravaganza that was Movie-Con III last weekend, where 500 of you joined us to watch exclusive clips from the likes of Thor, Captain America, Tron Legacy and Thor. It was a grand event attended by Simon Pegg, Danny Boyle, Daniel Radcliffe and John Landis, to name but a few. Not only that but Wednesday saw the office invaded by Edgar Wright and no less than five members of the Scott Pilgrim cast for a webchat that has to rank as our most anarchic ever. They wore cowboy hats, brandished swords, eat M&S chocolate rolls and played Hungry Hungry Hippos – all the while trying to answer the questions of the Empire readers. For a sampling of this special brand of Pilgrim-related chaos, take a look here. James Dyer Online Editor, Empire | | |

 | | | | | Empire At Gamescom Gamescom is back in Cologne once again, bringing with it the usual mix of European sensibilities (bratwurst for breakfast) and sneaky peeks at the latest offerings from the computer games industry. Kicking off proceedings this year is EA Games, none more suitably efficient at bringing out the big guns in a packed-out auditorium of gabbling geeks. Read more. | | | |

 | | | | | Movie-Con III: Videos, Photos And More! Like the bit in Jedi when the ewoks and the Rebel Alliance team up, Empire joined forces with the BFI last weekend to put on Movie-Con III, a feast of movie magic spread across two-and-a-bit-days on the South Bank. And as 'part threes' go, it was more Bourne than Alien. There was a bumper show of surprise guests, clips and Q&As that matched Frost/Nixon for gravitas but far outstripped them for references to Loki. And it's all here for your perusal. | | |
| | | Director Sylvain Chomet On The Illusionist Sylvain Chomet, director of the barmy but brilliant Belleville Rendezvous, is back this week with The Illusionist, the bittersweet tale of a magician in the dying days of the music hall who finds an unlikely family in Edinburgh. It's based on a script written by French comic star Jacques Tati, written in the 1950s but shelved until now. We got hold of Chomet and persuaded him to talk us through his latest animation. |
| | | Re-Cast: Five Blockbusters Completely Changed For Their Star As espionage actioner Salt proves, movie twists can sometimes happen before the cameras starts rolling. Reworked to incorporate Angelina Jolie, Evelyn Salt was originally Edwin Salt, similarly adept at the whole running, shooting and spying business but marginally less likely to get a pedicure. Kurt Wimmer tweaked the script to swap Tom Cruise's spy for Jolie's more enigmatic spook, which got us thinking about other big movies that could have been oh-so-different. |
| | | Cinema's Ten Greatest 3D Moments Kim Newman's personal picks of the best-ever 'lion in your lap' moments - named after the seminal 3D movie Bwana Devil, which used 'a lion in your lap' as a poster slogan (it doesn't make this list because, frankly, it's rather a dull little movie). So, prepare for the Day of the Tridvid. These are the ten best things ever to come right at ya... |
| | | Guess The Movie Eyes Quiz Good actors need to be able to make almost any part of their body convey emotion. Eyebrows, mouths, little fingers, you name it. But most importantly, it's in the eyes. The eyes is where it's at, where you stare longingly, and where the majority of ludicrous make-up is slapped upon. Aware of this, we've put together one of our patented (not really) picture quizzes - where your job is to eyeball the eyeball and work out what's what, who's who, and, most importantly, the name of the film. Type that in correctly and you'll get a little green tick. We bloody love little green ticks, we do. |
| | | Scott Pilgrim Webchat It's Scott Pilgrim vs the web as Edgar Wright and his crew descended on Empire HQ and, well, pretty much took the place over. Kieran Culkin and Satya Bhahba has a wasabi pea battle, Ellen Wong played Hungry Hungry Hippos and Brandon Routh just look generally swoonsome and buff. Amid the carnage they answered your questions on Scott, superheroes and sandwiches (sadly in the chaos and due to an unknown technical glitch, Wong and Bhahba's answers went the way of the peas). Scroll below for all your Pilgrim needs... |
| | | Is Angelina Jolie The New Clint Eastwood? Salt comes out this week. In it, Angelina Jolie stars as a CIA agent accused by a Russian defector of being a Soviet double-agent. With her husband gone missing and the entire US government after her, she goes on the run to figure out what's going on. But as we watched Jolie's latest thriller and reflected that she's not quite like any other actress today, we got to thinking about who she does resemble, and we came up with her Changeling director, Clint Eastwood. Here's why... |

 | | | | | Salt Enjoyable enough nonsense, even if it barely cracks a smile. It's not exactly the female Bourne we were hoping for. Still, Noyce marshals the crunches and bangs well, and it zips along at a pace sufficient enough to keep the paranoia alive. Never entirely predictable — a bonus these days — it's further confirmation of Jolie's action goddess status. | | | | Also Out | | | Watch Video This Week's Video Trailers And Clips Every week, our video player will update to show trailers and clips from the week's movie releases listed above. | | |
