Halo And Welcome
We'd love to tell you about all the films we've seen this week. We'd love to tell you about the stars from said films that we've interviewed, chatted alongside and generally hung out with. We'd also like to tell you that we didn't spend the entire week playing Halo: Reach. If we did, though, it would be an utter lie. This week has been Halo week here at Empire and all work has been placed on hold while we hold off hordes in Firefisht, rack up headshots in Slayer mode and suffer death after frustrating death while trying to beat the campaign on legendary difficulty (only John has managed it). Normal service will resume next week - assuming I've made Major by then.

The Tourist Trailer Arrives
Giving off a vibe similar to Knight & Day (experienced spy picks up hapless American citizen and takes them on a dangerous journey), the movie is actually based on French thriller Anthony Zimmer and was crafted by The Lives of Others director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, who really should be renting his name out to Bond villains.

    Curlyism: Hollywood's Last Taboo
These days, Hollywood isn't allowed to discriminate on the basis of race or religion or sexual persuasion or - in theory - gender. But one taboo remains. One group of unfortunates still see themselves sidelined, ridiculed, disguised and excluded on a daily basis, and that group is the curly-haired. Specifically, men with curly hair don't get dramatic, serious roles, and when they do, their hair is cut very short to reduce the 'fro, or they wear a wig, or – worse of all – they have to have their hair straightened. Oh, the humanity!

    A Beginner's Guide To Cinematographers
Cinematographers, or Directors of Photography, are the (often) unheralded geniuses that light and frame our favourite movies, bringing the photo-fabulous eye to make sure story is enhanced and the technical prowess to ensure the crane doesn't keel over and crush the star. They're also responsible for some of cinematic's most iconic images. There's a wealth of talented cinematographers working today, but we've picked ten of the most distinctive to get you started. After all, if you want to pass for a film buff instead of a mere geek, you've got to know who the Director of Photographer was...

    Movie-Con Exclusive Portraits
Since we gathered the cream of Britain's film industry - and a few international visitors for good measure - at Movie Con III last month, we thought we'd snap a few shots of them while they were there. Vote For The Greatest Trilogies Ever Made
In the Empire office, we've been debating of late what the greatest trilogy ever made is. By that we mean a set of three films, whether or not garlanded by sequels or prequels, which stand together and which are all, consistently good. Does The Lord of the Rings surpass the Three Colours trilogy? Are you the person who argues that the Star Wars prequels are better than the originals? Or are you Swedish and/or lucky enough to have seen all the Millennium films to vote for those?
