This Week...
Well we're now on our 12th consecutive day of work after Empire Presents…Big Screen last week, but we're all still totally fine AHAHHA. I mean, sure, Chris keeps trying to introduce people as they walk into the room, and I've been rewarding Ali and Phil for good work with pieces of cold cooked chicken ever since presenting the Animal Stars Of The Movies panel - but they seem to like it so it's all good. For those of you who weren't there, you can get a taste of the weekend online, with the news from all the stars and filmmakers who attended, videos of a few highlights and some rather gorgeous photos to give you a taste of the action. To all those of you who came along, a huge thank you for being so great all weekend (and for the cookies, ladies!), and we promise to sort out the queuing and ticketing system next time.

The Woman In Black Trailer Offers Chills
Not much of the plot is given away, aside from the talk of the central house and its horrific spectre, so a quick refresher for anyone not up to speed: Daniel Radcliffe stars as young lawyer Arthur Kipps, who is summoned to settle the legal affairs of the recently deceased Alice Drablow. When he arrives, he soon discovers that her erstwhile home has a tragic history and a haunted legend, and is quickly enveloped by the mystery...

Is Kind Hearts & Coronets The Best Black Comedy Ever?
This week, Robert Hamer's Kind Hearts And Coronets is getting a quick cinema re-release before coming out in gussied-up Blu-ray form. The film, starring Dennis Price, Valerie Hobson, Joan Greenwood, Alec Guinness, Alec Guinness, Alec Guinness, Alec Guinness, Alec Guinness, Alec Guinness, Alec Guinness and Alec Guinness, is (for my money) the greatest Ealing comedy ever and a strong contender for best British film ever made. It is also, I'm arguing here, the greatest black comedy ever made.

    Empire Presents... Big Screen
The O2 was the place to be last weekend, as Empire Presents…Big Screen took over. A host of filmmakers and celebrities descended on the event to bring us premieres, previews, secret screenings, Q&As, retrospectives and much, much more. In the Hollywood Boulevard section, fans could hang out in an old timey saloon, check out Bond cars or – if they were feeling really brave – watch Empire staff put the magazine together. All human life, in other words, was there – and you can check out our comprehensive coverage right over here...

The Coolest High School Movie Cliques
We all know about school cliques. You've got your jocks, your artsy types, your "popular girls", your nerds… and now The Inbetweeners – the guys that aren't the bottom of the pile, but definitely aren't on the top if it either. A very British version of a very American conceit – the "Spring Break!" movie, in effect – their TV show spin-off hits cinemas screen this week, offering a mix of cringe comedy, more cringe comedy and increasingly crude descriptions of sexual intercourse. You know, just the way you like it. So to celebrate their inclusion into the high school movie clique canon, we've gathered together 12 other ganglets for you to thank God you're not a part of…

The Inbetweeners On... The Inbetweeners Movie
Okay, okay, we know they're not actually called Will, Simon, Jay and Neil. In real life they're Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison, but for the purposes of this particular video interview, they are... The Inbetweeners. You know, with the The Inbetweeners Movie coming out this week and so. Anyway, you can see them talking about "emergency pants", rollerblade-based sequel ideas and "the screams of their victims" below, as well as writers Damon Beesley and Iain Morris on where their keep all their awards and how much they like Pret A Manger. Of course.

    Daniel Craig: A Viewer's Guide
There are only three no-no's when it comes to Daniel Craig: no rope-whipping of the testicles; no complex criminal schemes involving the word 'quantum'; and no prying into his off-screen life. All three are likely to bring out the Bond in him. Happily, none of those feature on the list of things Empire likes to do – our quantum is quite solaced enough, thank you very much – so instead we're using the release of Craig's genre mash Cowboys & Aliens as an excuse to take stock of the 43 year-old actor's career to date. And the actor's journey to the A-list has been a fascinating one. It's carried him from Cheshire to the Old West, via acclaimed TV dramas, costumed intrigue, muscular literary tales and trenches, both real and metaphoric. Here's our pick of Craig's CV to date, both good and not so good.

    Brendan Gleeson Talks The Guard
From Mad-Eye Moody to just plain mad... it's a natural initial reaction to Brendan Gleeson's character, world-weary Garda man Gerry Boyle, in The Guard. After all, his first act is to blankly observe a fatal car crash and his second is to relieve the corpses of their stash of drugs - all for 'consumption' not 'confiscation' purposes, you understand. But as Gleeson explained when Empire met him, Boyle is no holy fool in John Michael McDonagh's black comedy. It's one of those parts actors will gladly maim to get. Happily, he didn't need to do, thanks partly to a handy introduction from the director's brother, In Bruges director Martin McDonagh. Comparisons between the two films are unavoidable but, as Gleeson stressed, "you couldn't see Gerry Boyle in In Bruges". Too far, too much of an arse to get to...

Daniel Craig And Jon Favreau On Cowboys & Aliens
Say what you like about Cowboys & Aliens, but it definitely does what it says on the tin. Seriously, if you're expecting anything other than a bunch of cowboys and a bunch of aliens, then chances are you're going to the wrong movie. May we recommend... Harold & Maude, say. Anyway, just before they rocked up to the O2 on Thursday for our Empire Presents... Big Screen UK premiere of their sci-fi western, Daniel Craig and Jon Favreau chatted with us about the joys of firing repeater rifles, wearing leather chaps, and being compared to Eric Morecambe. No, really. We're not kidding.

    The Ultimate Dogs Picture Quiz
Last week, we had penguins running riot all over our picture quiz. And though they're cute little buggers, flapping and waddling and singing and dancing and such, they ain't got nothing on dogs. Dogs are the dog's bollocks, frankly, capable of being cute, kind and cuddly as well as ferocious, fierce and bloodthirsty. Basically, they're the complete pet package. Man's best friend, even. So to celebrate doggy kind, here's 33 pictures of pooches for you to identify the movie from, and if you win, you'll get a treat*. How nice.

*There will be no treats. Soz.

In Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, when Michael Sheard (as Hitler) signs the Grail diary, that's an actual replica of Hitler's signature. Now THAT is attention to detail.

Owls are not very bright birds. A trick that a raven could learn in a week would take an owl months.
