 | This Week... As you look forward to a long weekend of eating chocolate eggs, hot cross buns and vast quantities of roast lamb, spare a thought for those in peril on the seas. This week sees the 3D re-release of James Cameron's Titanic, and next Wednesday will see Battleship hit cinema screens, with Taylor Kitsch and Rihanna battling nautical aliens. So that you're up-to-date on both, we have a video interview with Cameron producer Jon Landau, a first-hand account of the making of Titanic, and a podcast interview with the Battleship posse, all this week. On a more Easter-y note, we also have a picture quiz based around eggs. Sorry, but it seemed necessary. Now, these Mini Eggs aren't going to eat themselves, so as we gorge ourselves into chocolate oblivion, enjoy the long weekend and its many Bank Holiday movies! | | | | That brain in the kitchen? No, that's FHM's brain. | | | | | | In some offices, a severed hand and bisected brain lying around a food preparation area might engender more comment that Ali's laconic attitude. | | |

 | | | | | A Titanic Newbie Watches Titanic 3D It's been almost 15 years since James Cameron's epic Titanic first hit cinema screens, taking the box office by storm, rocketing Celine Dion's wailey dirge 'My heart will go on' to number 1 around the world, and scooping 11 Academy Awards. Now it's back; and apparently better than ever in 3D. And since I'd never seen it before, I thought that this was the time to check it out. | | | |

 | | | | | Vote For The Funniest Film Ever! It's been a while since we picked your brains for nuggets of film gold, but it's that time again. We want YOU to vote for the funniest films ever, so get your thinking caps on, tickle your funny bone and make your choices. Does Airplane! or His Girl Friday's insanely high gag rate do it for you? Are you a Buster Keaton or Harold Lloyd aficionado? Do you go soft for spoofs like Naked Gun and Top Secret or silly for surreal fests like Life Of Brian? Is your repeat viewing Groundhog Day? Do you prefer Bill & Ted, Laurel & Hardy or Abbott & Costello? Who wins from Bridesmaids and The Hangover? Ladies and gentlemen, it's a tough job, but good luck: we're all counting on you. | |
| | | Empire's Special Terence Stamp Podcast A couple of weeks ago, Terence Stamp came into the office to appear on the Empire Podcast. We were expecting a quick interview, but it turned into 50 odd minutes of primarily Zod-based brilliance as he chatted with Chris Hewitt, James Dyer and Phil de Semlyen. We cut it down to around 15 minutes or so for the podcast proper, but we enjoyed his visit so much we had to spread the love. And so, the first interview-only Empire Podcast was born, and you can stream it (and download it) here below. |
| | | Exclusive: Jon Landau Talks Titanic 3D While James Cameron was at the bottom of the beautiful briny sea, his long-time production partner Jon Landau was gearing up to relaunch the mighty entity that is Titanic 3D back into the world. So does this signal the beginning of a 3D-ification of Cameron's back catalogue? Will we see a liquid Robert Patrick or an army of scurrying xenomorphs in eyeball-explodifying stereo in years to come? Landau answered that one, talked Titanic and shared some thoughts on recent 3D flops in a wide-ranging interview that you should watch immediately. Eywa wills it. |
| | | The Making Of Titanic James Cameron's Titanic was, of course, an enormous success, the highest-grossing film of all time until the same director's next feature smashed its record. But its production was a famously difficult and complex one, a shoot on an almost unprecedented scale which featured tough technical challenges and which was overseen by a director who knew exactly what he wanted and who demanded the utmost from everyone until he got it. Oh sure, there's a happy ending: eleven Oscars and nearly $2 billion at the box office. But it was a tough journey to get there - and here is the first-hand account of those who made it... |
| | | The Ultimate Eggs Picture Quiz Without eggs, we wouldn't have chickens. And without chickens, we wouldn't have eggs - and then where would we be? Well, we wouldn't have this picture quiz, for one thing, which is entirely centred around the things. As it's Easter, we were going to go with rabbits, but it turns out we've already done a picture quiz on those floppy-eared fellows. In fact, when you're done with this one, why not check it out? Ah, go on, you know you want to... |
| | | Paolo Sorrentino Talks This Must Be The Place There's been quirky road trip movies down the years - Richard Farnsworth drove across America by lawnmower; Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels did likewise in a furry Mutts Cutts wagon - but there's never been anything quite like This Must Be The Place. Directed by Paolo Sorrentino, it sends Sean Penn's Robert Smith-alike rock recluse Cheyenne across the States in an attempt to track down a Nazi war criminal. The Boys From Brazil this ain't, though. The only set of skills Cheyenne boasts involve singing, song-writing and blow-drying his luxurious mane. It's no ordinary film but then, as he proved with Il Divo, Sorrentino is no ordinary filmmaker. Empire caught up with him on his recent trip to Britain to talk about bringing his tall tale to the screen. |
| | | Morgan Spurlock On Morgan Spurlock's New Britannia Morgan Spurlock is one of those utterly genuine, utterly charming people that puts everyone he meets at ease. It's one of the many reasons he's been such a success with his documentaries - most famously, with Super Size Me back in 2004. Now he's set to appear on UK TV screens with a new chat show he's hosting, Morgan Spurlock's New Britannia, which sees the magnificently-moustachioed Morgan discussing the differences between the US and the UK with a bunch of comedians and a bunch of pre-recorded documentary-style footage. And as we're big Morgan Spurlock fans in the office - see our previous video interview and 'gateway docs' feature for details - we jumped at the chance to catch up with him after the Empire Awards. | | | |

 | | | | | Headhunters A slick thriller which takes place in a moral vacuum. It's fascinating rather than exciting, but makes for chilly thrills with two strong, charismatic lead performances, a great deal of style and amusingly repulsive, ruthless twists. | | | | Also Out | | | This week's video trailers and clips. | | | | | Hugo It may be too rarefied for kids raised on rapping penguins and Chipmunks sequels, but offers excitement and enchantment in equal measure and is likely to become a lasting favourite. Scorsese is film historian enough to recreate early cinema in perfect detail, but Hugo's plot is set in motion by a heart-shaped key. This is a great director's greatest love story. | | | | Also Out | | |
