 | This Week... It's been a dark and stormy week, which we're putting down to the return of Johnny Depp and Tim Burton this weekend. After all, the gruesome twosome's latest features vampires and witches and all manner of things that go bump in the night, so it's probably also caused the recent rainstorms that affected its otherwise fun London premiere during the week. But to combat that gloom, we've brought you a bit of sunshine, with the cast and directors of Jeff Who Lives At Home talking about their indie comedy; the cast of All In Good Time talking Brit flicks and a quick guide to filling that Homeland-shaped hole in your life now that the series has finished its Sunday night run. Next week sees the return of Sacha Baron Cohen in The Dictator, and some of the best action you'll ever see in The Raid. And Avengers is still in cinemas. So really, who cares if it rains? We've got you covered. Helen O'Hara Deputy Editor, Empire | | |

 | | | | | A series of rather excellent insta-ninja training videos courtesy of Adaptive Martial Concepts, which cover everything from fending off the average mugger to taking out an elite squad of Navy Seals. Watching these is guaranteed to make your average night out look less like Dude, Where's My Car? and more like The Raid. | | | |

 | | | | | Moving Seats? A New Gimmick Or The Saviour Of Cinema? This week I attended another screening of The Avengers (Assemble) that offered something called "D-Box" seats. These are seats that move in tandem with the action onscreen - think flight simulators or those various "4D" and "5D" rides at various theme parks*. I've tried a few of those experiences: Shrek 4D at Universal Studios, Muppets 4D at Disneyworld, and a few similar rides at Futuroscope back when it was a real novelty. But this is the first time I've been to one of these presentations for a proper feature film, and it was an entertaining but... odd experience. I'm sure quite a few of you have already tried it, being early adopters and all, but let's discuss it. | | | |

 | | | | | Ten Ways To Beat The Homeland Blues Homeland is over - for the time being at least - which leaves our Sunday evenings emptier than Jack Bauer's sidearm. So how to fill this gaping void? Well, you could go around practising dead-drops, running surveillance on your friends or waterboarding your pet hamster, but none of those things are recommended, or indeed, legal. Instead, get your teeth into a few of these Homeland go-furthers to fill the gap until season 2 arrives. Barack, this one's for you... | |
| | | The Empire Podcast #11 Is Here! Helen O'Hara, Nick De Semlyen, Ali Plumb and Chris Hewitt are in the studio, talking about everything from Avatar 4 to Kick-Ass 2, as well as the return of The Avengers - and even things that aren't sequels. Edgar Wright also drops by to tell us a few things about his latest online project and we dig our reviewing teeth into Dark Shadows, Jeff Who Lives At Home and How I Spent My Summer Vacation. |
| | | High School Movies Movie Poster Mashups If you know your Baldwins from your Bettys, you're going to thoroughly enjoy the topic of this week's poster mash-ups. Yes, we're taking it back to teenage life with a High School Movies theme, and once again our readers have outdone themselves. From Donnie Dark Knight to Fast & Furious At Ridgemont High to Rushmore Hour, it's all here. Keep it frosty and have a look at the lot... |
| | | Jason Segel Talks Jeff Who Lives At Home Like the Coen brothers circa Raising Arizona, Jay and Mark Duplass are a fraternal double-act that's starting to make a waves in Hollywood. Like the Coens, it's hard to imagine their indie sensibilities will ever entirely mesh with Tinseltown, which is no bad thing. Their follow-up to Cyrus is Jeff Who Lives At Home, another comic tale of domestic dysfunction that gathers the combined talents of Susan Sarandon, Jason Segel, Ed Helms and Judy Greer and sets them loose on a funny, ramshackle indie drama. Actors love working with them, as we discovered when we caught up with the cast. Look out too for Sarandon's thoughts on Cloud Atlas ("I saw ten minutes and it was almost like seeing ten films," she told us) and the directors' thoughts on their next project, the loopily-titled Do-Deca-Pentathlon. |
| | | All In Good Time Interviews It's every newlywed's nightmare: All In Good Time finds the young couple of Atul (Reece Ritchie) and Vina (Amara Karan) trying to consumate their marriage despite being stuck in the family home following a honeymoon disaster. Directed by Calendar Girl's Nigel Cole and also starring Meera Syal, the film looks set to follow the tradition of British family comedies. We spoke to Cole and his cast about putting the film together... | | | |

 | | | | | Dark Shadows A word of warning: this is not the knockabout comedy the trailer suggests. Instead, it cleaves closer to what you expect from Burton: darkness, quirk and Johnny Depp on great form. A step up, then, from Alice In Wonderland and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, but not tip-top Tim. | | | | Also Out | | | This week's video trailers and clips. Every week, our video player will update to show trailers and clips from the week's movie releases listed above. | | |
