 | This Week... This is a week of destiny, a week that has been years in the making. At long last, the US edition of Empire has launched and is available in all its glory to you Yanks in your local App store. In the words of the great Stephen Colbert, you're welcome, America! But we're not forgetting our roots. Here in the UK the physical Dark Knight Rises issue hit newsstands with a Bat-bang, bringing with it a host of exclusives on films from Django Unchained to The Amazing Spider-Man, and utterly definitive coverage of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. It was also an exciting week in the office because Mad Men star Jon Hamm visited to promote his new film Friends With Kids (which he also produces). Turns out he really is as handsome and smart and funny as he appears. We're still recovering from the mass swoonage that resulted. Helen O'Hara Deputy Editor, Empire | | |

 | | | | | A new set of Hulk hands, from Hasbro. It's just the thing: our last ones gave up the ghost soon after James started work on the US iPad edition. | | | |
 |
 | | | | I'm not going to eat these Swedish Fish because they're Phil's. Look at me, I'm growing as a person. | | | | | | James finally learns to share. Or at least, to not nick other people's US sweets. | | |

 | | | | | Empire Vs. Transformers: The Ride-3D Say what you like about Michael Bay's Transformers franchise - and God knows you will - but even the most highfalutin' critic would find it hard to claim that the action sequences aren't spectacular. So when you hear that Transformers has finally been turned into a theme park attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood, your immediate question is... why didn't they do it before? Well, because I'm always willing to leap in front of a bullet, I went over to Los Angeles to find out. It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it. | | | |

 | | | | | Prometheus: The Interviews Ridley Scott's epic return to the world of Alien has been shrouded in more mystery than the Weyland-Yutani canteen menu. But having finally secured D7 access, Empire breached the airlock of London's Soho Hotel to talk to Ridley Scott and his crew of astro-voyagers. Find out below whether Scott's seen AvP, which scenes caused the most pain, and which star had to clean up wet patches on set... | |
| | | The Empire Podcast #14 Can it be the fourteenth Empire podcast already? Yes, yes it can. To prove it, here's the Soundcloud play for said podcast, complete with the title "Empire Podcast #14: June 1, 2012 - Rick McCallum" which proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is indeed podcast the fourteenth. Want to know what you've got to look forward to? Well, there's a Prometheus review that you may want to hear, some titbits from the set of The Dark Knight Rises from our very own Dan Jolin, and news stories as GI Joe 2 getting pushed back and One Shot getting renamed get a good going over. |
| | | Snow White And The Huntsman: The Interviews Forget everything you thought you knew about Snow White. The endless dish-washing, the cutesy singing, the general wetness. Snow White And The Huntsman gives the story a darker, more action-packed tinge, and an epic scope, and we went along to talk to the cast - including Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth - and director Rupert Sanders recently to learn more... |
| | | Charlize Theron: A Viewer's Guide Since landing in Hollywood, Charlize Theron has delved into the darkest recesses of the human psyche, pursued truth into uncomfortable corners, driven Minis at speeds definitely not recommended by the Highway Code, and disarmed disorderly superheroes. But it's all in a day's work for one of Tinseltown's most gifted - and boldest - actresses. Next up, she takes on wicked witch duties in Snow White And The Huntsman before Ridley Scott blasts the Benoni-born actress into space to an uncertain future in Prometheus. In case she never returns, we've looked back at her brilliant career to date, taking in all those sociopaths, speed freaks and superheroes along the way... |
| | | Ken Loach On The Angels' Share Ken Loach is not a happy man. At least, not as far as censorship is concerned. Having previously had an 18 rating slapped on Sweet Sixteen, his chagrin at having his wrists slapped for the use of a certain word in his new film, The Angels' Share, was evident (let's just say it rhymes with 'flunt') when Empire met up with him. Loach and his screenwriter Paul Laverty talked through their feelings on cutting, as well as the film's star Paul Brannigan, a Glaswegian discovered by Laverty at Strathclyde police's Violence Reduction Unit. Needless to say, strong language ensued. |
| | | Jon Hamm Webchat Transcript Jon Hamm has been rocketed from unknown to worldwide fame thanks to the success of TV show Mad Men, but he seems determined to use his powers for good rather than evil. From hilarious TV sketches for Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock to scene-stealing cameos in films like Bridesmaids, he's shown that he's as much a comedian as a dramatic actor. Now he's producing and starring in Friends With Kids alongside his girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt (who also writes and directs), as well as Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Chris O'Dowd, Adam Scott, Ed Burns and Megan Fox. Ahead of Friends With Kids' release on June 29, we brought Hamm in to address the questions that really matter - like his favourite sandwich... |
| | | The Ultimate Spacesuit Picture Quiz The thing is about space is you can't breathe the air. In fact, in actual spacey space, there's no air at all. Bugger. So what you need is a spacesuit, and Hollywood is more than happy to give you a few pointers on that front. Sure, they're all fictional, and no, you're not going to be able to buy one ever, but you can dream, right? You can also picture quiz, so get on that in this special Prometheus-friendly sci-fi spectacular quizzymathing. Warning: contains a lot of massive goldfish bowls. | | | |

 |
 | | | | | Prometheus Buffeted by a lack of suspense, threadbare characters, and a very poor script, the stunning visuals, gloopy madness, and sterling Fassbenderiness can't prevent Prometheus feeling like Alien's poor relation. | | | | Also Out | | | This week's video trailers and clips. Every week, our video player will update to show trailers and clips from the week's movie releases listed above. | | |
 |
 | | | | | Shame Brave, beautifully acted and emotionally revealing - an early strong contender for the most provocative and compelling film of the year. | | | | Also Out | | |
